If you are local to San Jose you might pass the Almaden Expressway exit on 85. Yes, this is a very popular exit. Why? It’s the hub of many good places to shop, Best Buy, Walmart and Costco. Next week you will have a great place to shop and dine. Bass Pro Shops and Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl and Restaurant are the new boys in town.
This morning I had the pleasure to attend the flag raising ceremony and a tour of this fabulous store Bass Pro Shops. It was a little dusty but I was like yes!! Yes… An outdoor world, the look and feel of a lodge in the Silicon Valley. Even better it’s a huge store.
Just the lobby is designed to resemble a California mountain lodge. It features a stone fireplace, native fish and wildlife mounts from California and species from other parts of North America.
Bass Pro Shops are even bringing in local landmarks. The tee shirt shop has been transformed into an old quicksilver mine (Almaden Quicksilver) with lanterns, carved rock and aged beams.
Everywhere on the walls are murals. Yes, murals not those fancy wallpaper. Here is a photo of one of the artisans creating his masterpiece.
Six things I love about the San Jose Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World
Biking distance to my house. Okay I am thinking the parking lot is going to be pretty packed all the time and the amount it takes me to get in my car and find parking.. It is faster to take the bike.
It has Uncle Buck’s Grill and Fish Bowl. The newest place for 30 something like minded outdoor enthusiasts to hang out and grab a drink. Also, bowling.. yep!!
Just look at the inside of the Fish Bowl.. Sorry about the dust they are getting ready for next week.
They promote family fun. Just look at this fishing kit for girls.
Perfect birthday presents for that “Redneck” in your life. Yes, I am raising my hand my big event happens next week.
Did someone say Archery? I have never tried it but hey now they have their own archery range? I bet you didn’t know that!
Huh? If you think everyone in the Silicon Valley looks down at their phones all the time for some reason you are probably 90% correct. The store will offer free outdoor skills workshops throughout the year for adults, kids and families.
Mark your calendars for next Wednesday, October 28th. Heck, get your sitters lined up like yesterday. San Jose Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is celebrating with an Evening for Conservation and ribbon cutting ceremony. They are giving back to conservation groups including Santa Clara County Parks, 50 cents on every dollar spent will be given back to these selected groups.
